Wesley Snipes Hints at Return to Iconic Role

Before we had the Marvel Cinematic Universe, before Kevin Feige created a master tapestry of interconnected characters and stories, we had Wesley Snipes as Blade.

The vampire/human hybrid has been fighting – and slaying-vampires- since his first appearance in Marvel’s Tomb of Dracula #10 way back in 1973.  Snipes took on the mantle for a trio of films, 2 directed by monster movie maker Guillermo del Toro, and we’ve been waiting for a fourth film ever since.

Now, it appears that possibility is increasing according to Snipes in a recent interview with Deadline:

“The project is controlled by Marvel and we did have a really productive and a wonderful meeting and we discussed a number of things. I don’t know where it’s on their schedule at this point, that hasn’t been decided. I guess it’s still up in the air.”

“I’ve always been a fan of these pieces and adaptations and it’d be nice to be a part of the family again. But if we don’t do a Blade 4 or something else with Marvel, we’ll do something else. We have some other characters and some other concepts that are going to be just as exciting and hopefully just as successful.”

So according to Snipes, he’ll likely be joining the MCU, with or without Blade! Now again, this is all rumors and speculation until Marvel themselves talk, but Wesley seems pretty confident that he’s in with Marvel.

I, for one, would love to see Blade show up to help Spidey take on Morbius or Dracula even.  Of course, a stand-alone Blade movie would be A-OK too!

What Blade stories do you want to see on the big screen?
